“WAW”, the Arabic term for “and”, is LPHU
newsletter and its name meant to make a connection between you
and us, so that we cease to be apart and so that the gap between
us, the disabled, and you, the able-bodied members of society,
is removed.
We have been marginalized for a long time, barely communicating
with society until we chose to meet with each other.
Yes, “WAW” was our choice. We want “WAW”
to highlight our about our situation, to inform people about a
section of society which has until recently been forgotten or
ignored. We want to show you a group of people who are seeking
your support, a group whom with your support will want to show
their potential to contribute to the building of society. “WAW”
is a scream that has chocked throats for a long time before it
was able to echo throughout.
"WAW" that reflects the experiences and views of the
Lebanese Physical Handicapped Union established in 1981. It is
also an invitation to those who want to work in order to attain
the rights of the disabled. We wish "WAW" to make our
dream come true, the dream of many people, a dream that tells
the story of a complete society with the effort of its individuals…
